Question: Why is minimal "text-only"? Are images not allowed?

Images and flashy designs have their place, but they can also get in the way and distract from a great article. When you're writing an article that you've put a lot of thought and energy to, its refreshing to not have to worry about making your article or blog look good. You can just focus on writing. When you're reading, although sometimes images can add some context, they often just get in the way. Think about the last great book you read that you couldn't put down. How many pictures did it have? Did a lack of pictures make it any less interesting to read? We want to bring that experience to writing on the web.

We don't stop you from using emoji if you need to add a little extra emphasis, but Minimal is otherwise text-only and distraction-free.

Question: Why is Minimal better than something similar like Medium or Svbtle?

As a reader, Medium is frustrating because you're penalized for being curious. After you read a few interesting articles, the block you with a paywall. Svbtle is an alternative to Minimal, but it has become a little too cute for its own good. Try pointing your tech-challened uncle at Svbtle and have them start a blog. They won't be able to figure it out! The goal of Minimal is to make it so intuitive, simple, and easy to get started that anyone who has ever wanted to write can now get started with just a few clicks.

Question: How much does Minimal cost?

Minimal has a personal free plan, no credit card required. The personal plan gives you a personal blog where you can write an unlimited number of articles for free.

Once you're ready to take it to the next level, you can sign up for our Audience Builder plan, where you get the tools you need to connect more easily with and grow your audience.

Question: Do I have to know how to code or design to use Minimal?

Absolutely not. In fact, that's the point. There's nothing to customize or set up. You can just sign up, start writing, and publish your story for the world to see.

Question: How do I cancel my subscription?

If Minimal isn't for you, you can cancel by logging in and going to your Subscription page. You simply click on the "Cancel" button, confirm, and you're done. You'll get an email confirmation as well.

Of course, if you do cancel, I hope you'll let me know what we can do better.
